<description>Nick Bond has received the ASL Early Career Excellence Award for 2009.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; This was announced at the annual ASL congress held recently in Alice Springs.
The Australian Society for Limnology Early Career Excellence Award aims to reward and encourage excellence by an early career limnologist who has contributed substantially to Australian limnology and/or aquatic ecosystem management.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; Nick has made, and is continuing to make, very significant contributions, and this award is well deserved. Congratulations Nick!

The Vice Chancellor's Award for Honours Supervision for 2009 has been awarded to Richard Reina. This rounds off an excellent set of results highlighting the School's success in all aspects of teaching - well done Richard!&amp;nbsp;
Dr Gerry Rayner and Dr Murray Logan, School of Biological Sciences, who have each been selected for a Special Commendation under the category of Vice-Chancellor&amp;rsquo;s Awards for Teaching Excellence for 2009.*
Dr Carla Sgro, an ARC Australian Research Fellow -School of Biological Sciences co-author on a paper that will be published in Science this Friday, entitled: Fundamental Evolutionary Limits in Ecological Traits Drive Drosophila Species Distributions.
