Romeo

Romeo is a beautiful specimen, in his prime at about four to five years of age and weighing in at 62kgs. There has been evidence of this male in the area for some time, however, he has proved to be somewhat of a nemesis of mine, evading the dartgun on every possible occasion. After being located mating with Ulla, he was finally captured in December 2004 and a VHF radio collar was placed on him. The evening following his capture it was discovered that he had rejoined Ulla and they continued mating for a further three days. Tracking to date suggests his range extends all the way from Zinave to as far south as Izwelihle and, thankfully, he has not yet been recorded off the reserve. He has also been recorded mating with Nyoka.
