New Postgraduate Students

Postgraduate research scholarships – for students wishing to commence studies in the School of Biological Sciences

Step 1.

It is important prior to applying for a scholarship for you to have contacted potential supervisor/s and discussed possible research projects.  Before proceeding with your on-line application it is a requirement for you to have an agreement ‘in principle’ with potential academic supervisor(s), one of which must have a position within the School of Biological Sciences at Monash.  This will be AN ESSENTIAL part of the selection process. Without such agreement your application will not be considered further.

Faculty of Science Dean’s Postgraduate Scholarship Scheme

Applicants who receive an honours grade of H1 or have been assessed as H1 equivalent are eligible to be nominated for a scholarship under the Faculty of Science Dean’s Postgraduate Research Scholarship Scheme. Nominations can be submitted for the following types of applicants.

  • All applicants wishing to commence candidature before 2010 can be nominated for these scholarships by the School of Biological Sciences if they meet the eligibility requirements. If these applicants have also applied for a centrally funded Monash University scholarship and are successful, the central scholarship shall replace the faculty scholarship.
  •  Applicants wishing to commence candidature in 2010 apply for a central scholarship via the Online Monash Postgraduate Research Scholarship Application system. If unsuccessful, applicants that meet the eligibility requirements can be then nominated for a scholarship by the School of Biological Sciences under the Faculty of Science Dean’s Postgraduate Scholarship scheme.
